From videogames to mangas

I've started working on a brand new project, which will still be part of AKAPAAKA: a creation of a manga.

For now, I'm taking a step away from game development and focusing on storytelling through manga. That doesn't mean I've left the world of video games behind. I'm sure I'll come back to it in the future with new ideas and more experience.

I've realized that this is simply who I am. I have many dreams, many goals, and countless things I want to create. As long as I'm alive, I want to explore different forms of art and creativity instead of limiting myself to just one.

Maybe some projects will succeed, others won't. But every project teaches me something new, and every step helps me grow.

AKAPAAKA has never been just about making games—it's about creating. Whether it's a video game, a manga, or something completely different, my goal is always the same: to bring my ideas to life and share them with others.

The Challenge of Making Duck in Debt Feel Full 🦆

Developing Duck in Debt has been an interesting challenge for me. One of the biggest challenges while developing the game has always been this: How do I make a very simple game feel full of things to discover? At its core, Duck in Debt has very simple gameplay. The player controls a flying duck and must survive while dodging metal bars that appear during the run. While flying, the player can also collect onions, which act as the main currency of the game. 🦆 Dodge obstacles 🧅 Collect onions 🏆 Try to reach the highest score possible Onions can be traded with the Jolly of Eyes , a mysterious character who has kidnapped the other ducks. By giving him onions, players can unlock and free new ducks to play with. Players can also obtain onions thanks to Sheepy the Sheep , an onion hunter who gives the player missions that reward onions when completed. When Other Indie Games Make You Doubt Your Own

I’ve been looking at other games, and honestly, sometimes it makes me feel like my own game looks terrible in comparison. It’s not just about quality, but also numbers. Seeing only a few downloads on Google Play can be really demoralizing, especially when other games reach thousands or even millions in the same time. It makes me wonder: “Is my game bad?” “Am I doing something wrong?” But the truth is, this comparison is often unfair. We compare our projects (maybe out first) to polished games, sometimes made by teams, with more experience, marketing, or even just better timing. Every developer starts small.
