From videogames to mangas

I've started working on a brand new project, which will still be part of AKAPAAKA: a creation of a manga. Idk if here the links works but I will put here the link for the first chapter of my original manga: Katasugi. https://share.google/nAWQXTzpenBGj9Q5p For now, I'm taking a step away from game development and focusing on storytelling through manga. That doesn't mean I've left the world of video games behind. I'm sure I'll come back to it in the future with new ideas and more experience. I've realized that this is simply who I am. I have many dreams, many goals, and countless things I want to create. As long as I'm alive, I want to explore different forms of art and creativity instead of limiting myself to just one. Maybe some projects will succeed, others won't. But every project teaches me something new, and every step helps me grow. AKAPAAKA has never been just about making games—it's about creating. Whether it's a video game, a manga, o...

Some thoughts update

I've realized that I'm not fully satisfied with my latest project, Cutie Fight. While developing it, I learned a lot, but I also understood that the game isn't going in the direction I originally imagined. I've ended up putting both Duck in Debt and Cutie Fight aside for now. It wasn't an easy decision, especially after the time and passion I invested in both projects. That doesn't mean I've given up on them forever. I truly believe I'll come back to both games one day with more experience, new ideas, and a clearer vision of what I want them to become. Sometimes, taking a break from a project isn't failure—it's simply part of growing as a developer. I know I'm writing this as if I were talking about the most famous games in the world, but I wanted to write it for the people who genuinely enjoyed my games and supported me. You made me truly happy. It may seem like a small thing, but for an 18-year-old with big dreams, it means everything. I...

When Other Indie Games Make You Doubt Your Own

I’ve been looking at other games, and honestly, sometimes it makes me feel like my own game looks terrible in comparison. It’s not just about quality, but also numbers. Seeing only a few downloads on Google Play can be really demoralizing, especially when other games reach thousands or even millions in the same time. It makes me wonder: “Is my game bad?” “Am I doing something wrong?” But the truth is, this comparison is often unfair. We compare our projects (maybe out first) to polished games, sometimes made by teams, with more experience, marketing, or even just better timing. Every developer starts small. Every developer struggles. So instead of thinking “my game is worse” I’m trying to think “what can I learn from this?” — Yuri Masuda Zoncada Creator of Duck in Debt Founder of Akapaaka

Trying New Ways to Promote Duck in Debt ๐Ÿฆ†๐ŸŽฅ

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to promote my game Duck in Debt… and honestly, I’ve reached a point where I don’t really know what else to do. The game is what it is. I’ve already improved it, added content, fixed bugs, and shared it in different ways. But at some point, you realize that you can’t just keep saying “play my game” over and over again. So I decided to use mainly the meme strategy. Instead of directly promoting the game all the time, I’m starting to focus on creating memes and entertaining content. The idea is to reach a wider audience first, make people enjoy the content, and then naturally introduce Duck in Debt through it. It’s a different approach: less direct, but potentially more effective. At the same time, I also started working on a new game project, not only because I enjoy creating, but also to expand the Akapaaka portfolio. I believe that having more projects will help me grow, both as a developer and in terms of visibility. In the end, it’s all part...

Working on a New Project: An Auto Battler Game ๐ŸŽฎ

After developing Duck in Debt, I learned a lot about game development, from mechanics to updates and player feedback. Now I wanted to challenge myself with something a bit more complex, where multiple systems interact with each other. This new project is inspired by games like auto battlers, where you build your team and watch them fight automatically. The interesting part is not the action itself, but the strategy behind choosing and combining different characters. In just a few days, I’ve already implemented: -the basic combat system -10 characters -character selection system -unique unlock system -Shop -menu -the character upgrade system It seems a small thing, but Just for the combat system, that still not 100% complete, It took me days to do It. One of the most challenging parts so far was creating a character unlock system without duplicates, which took me several hours to figure out, but it was also a big step forward for me as a developer. Also create and configure all the char...

Duck in Debt – Update 1.0.10 Released ๐Ÿฆ†

I’m happy to announce that version 1.0.10 of Duck in Debt has been released. This update mainly focuses on fixing the bugs that appeared after the big 1.0.8 update. Version 1.0.8 introduced many new features to the game, and because of the large amount of new content, several bugs also appeared. After that, I released version 1.0.9, but I quickly removed it because I noticed there were still other bugs that I had not seen before. Because of that, I decided to take a little more time to fix everything properly. Now, with version 1.0.10, the bugs from 1.0.8 have been fixed and the game should feel much more stable and smooth. As always, Duck in Debt continues to evolve thanks to updates and improvements. Thank you to everyone who has tried the game and supported the project so far ♥️♥️♥️ More updates will come in the future ๐ŸŒผ Keep collecting onions and saving the ducks! ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿง…

The Challenge of Making Duck in Debt Feel Full ๐Ÿฆ†

Developing Duck in Debt has been an interesting challenge for me. One of the biggest challenges while developing the game has always been this: How do I make a very simple game feel full of things to discover? At its core, Duck in Debt has very simple gameplay. The player controls a flying duck and must survive while dodging metal bars that appear during the run. While flying, the player can also collect onions, which act as the main currency of the game. ๐Ÿฆ† Dodge obstacles ๐Ÿง… Collect onions ๐Ÿ† Try to reach the highest score possible Onions can be traded with the Jolly of Eyes , a mysterious character who has kidnapped the other ducks. By giving him onions, players can unlock and free new ducks to play with. Players can also obtain onions thanks to Sheepy the Sheep , an onion hunter who gives the player missions that reward onions when completed. One of the strategies I adopted while developing Duck in Debt was to make every element feel like a small character. Even the onions themselv...
